Hotel Assist

Hotel Assist is a fully functional web app designed to manage staff across a network of hotels.

The project demonstrates how a frontend built with vanilla JavaScript can work together with a Java backend and a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database.

App Features:

– Full CRUD operations for every entity (employees, hotels, skills, and contracts).
– Dynamic data loading from Supabase through a REST API.
– Relationships between database tables, such as skills assigned to specific employees.
– Modal forms for adding and editing records, including input validation.
– Detailed views of related data (employee → skills + contracts).
– Clean JavaScript architecture with separate modules and logic controllers.
– Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes.

Database & Backend

I designed a relational database structure using PostgreSQL, hosted on Supabase:

  • employee — employee information,
  • hotel — list of hotels,
  • skill — list of skills,
  • contract — contracts linked to employees and hotels,
  • employee_skill — many-to-many relationship table.

The Java backend (REST API) acts as a bridge between the frontend and Supabase, handling secure HTTP requests
(GET, POST, PUT, DELETE).

Frontend (Vanilla JS + Fetch API)

  • The entire frontend is built with vanilla JavaScript ES6 — no frameworks involved.
  • Communication with the backend using fetch() and asynchronous API requests.
  • Dynamic rendering of tables and forms based on JSON data.
  • Simple modal components for adding, editing, and viewing records.

User Interface (UI/UX)

A clean, user-friendly interface organized into four main sections:

  1. Employees
  2. Hotels
  3. Skills
  4. Contracts

Each section includes:

  • A data table,
  • Action buttons (View / Edit / Delete),
  • A modal form for adding new records.

The interface is styled entirely with vanilla CSS3, featuring a gradient background and dark-themed cards with purple, pink, and green accents.
